MG, Brigade Roads Swept Clean

BENGALURU:  Within a few hours after thousands of people celebrated new year at Brigade and M G Roads, the roads were cleaned up by BBMP authorities.

“In the morning, the street was full of slippers, papers, shoes, tin bottles and also beer bottles. It was cleaned up,” said Satish, who visits these roads regularly.

BBMP officials said mixed waste from here was  sent to the MSGP unit at Chigerehalli on Doddaballapura Road, while segregated dry and wet waste was sent to Kannahalli on Magadi Road. Yatish Kumar, zonal commissioner (East), under which these two roads fall, said senior officers have been appointed for each ward. “We clear waste on a day-to-day basis,” he said. “Today when I came to the shop the street was very clean,” said Mahesh, a shopkeeper.

“The BBMP works as a team. Each officer was given a zone so they could monitor their area well,” said Subodh Yadav, Special Commissioner (Solid Waste Management), BBMP.
