Sathya Sai awards for excellence given away

The awardees, the jury claimed, are individuals who have led a life of service in various fields of social relevance to transform lives.

BENGALURU: Celebrating godman Sathya Sai Baba’s 91st birth anniversary, the Sri Sathya Sai Awards for Human Excellence were presented at a ceremony held at Sathya Sai Grama, Muddenahalli here on Wednesday. The awardees, the jury claimed, are individuals who have led a life of service in various fields of social relevance to transform lives.

The awards include individuals from around the world with an emphasis on candidates from the emerging world - India, South Asia, South-East Asia, Middle-East, Africa and Latin America. Master Cheng Yen from Taiwan and Dr M Rajagopal from India in health category, Mohammed Rezwan from Bangladesh in Education, Sunitha Krishnan from India in Woman and Child Welfare, Chandi Prasad Bhatt from India in Environment, K J Yesudas from India in Music, and A T Ariyaratne from Sri Lanka in Unity of Religions categories were felicitated.
