AC behind Bengaluru encroachment removal transferred

BENGALURU: Assistant Commissioner with Bengaluru Urban DC, LC Nagaraj , the man behind many encroachment removal in Bengaluru South was transferred on Friday. He is posted to Raichur distruct.

The order comes suspicous after CM Siddaramiah on Wednesday directed concerned officials not to spare any encroachments including lakes and storm water drains. Sources from Bengaluru Urban DC office said Nagaraj had initiated to preserve 63 acres of government land at Pantarapalya and Doddabele worth close to Rs 1800 crore. "There was big people involved in this, they could be the reason for his transfer,'' sources said.

Another senior official who did not wish to reveal identity said Nagaraj and team issued notices to many for encroaching 800 acres of land various places including BM Kavalu, Taralu and other places. "He is issuing notices for the last two months. He was supposed to start the encroachment removal drive soon. Before that he was transferred. This could be the reason for his transfer,'' he said.

When contacted, Nagaraj said he is a government servant and ready to work anywhere. "My term of three years as South AC almost over. But no one posted for my place. I want to work here till someone is posted and complete the mission. So, I am going to court on this basis,'' he said.
