Compound wall of under-construction apartment razed

BENGALURU: In response to criticism that civic agencies are going soft on real estate biggies, BBMP on Tuesday brought down a compound wall and two workmen sheds of an under-construction apartment belonging to Puravankara Kudlu village in Singsandra. BBMP mayor Manjunath Reddy had directed officials on Monday to go through documents and if needed demolish the entire structure that is reportedly built on a storm water drain (SWD) in Begur. During his visit to the spot, Reddy said, “Puravankara’s Purva Skydale apartment seems to have been built on a SWD that heads to Haralur lake.” Later, Reddy visited Sunny Brooks villa on Sarjapura Road, where an SWD passes through the gated community premises.

‘Haven’t encroached’

A spokesperson of Puravankara Projects Ltd said, “The project is being developed on 186 guntas and has a clear marketable title. The property has been purchased through a valid sale deed and we have the BBMP khata for the land in our name, with all taxes paid till date. We are the rightful owner of the property and have adhered to all by-laws and obtained all NOCs and plan sanctions. On the 7.5 guntas of land, the matter is sub-judice. We reiterate we have not encroached on any private or public property (SWD).”
