BENGALURU: You know you are setting international trends, when you’ve got Kylie Jenner’s back. When the youngest member of reality TV’s royal family (the Kardashians) launched her limited edition nail polishes, she picked an Indian designer duo to dress her up for the occassion. She wore an indigo blue matador jacket by Falguni and Shane Peacock.

This is the Instagram star’s biggest cosmetic launch following her lip kit that were sold out minutes after he went online last year.

Over the last 13 months, the 19 year old has built a business empire for herself, with an estimated $10 million in personal earnings from sales of branded merchandise.

Kylie’s Got Style
So, what exactly is it about Falguni and Shane Peacock’s that caught the millennial trendsetter’s eye?

“I’d say that it just happened one fine day.  We had made many matador inspired jackets; it was a hit and sailed fairly well. The design was well received by everyone and in this case internationally too. So, things eventually fell in place and Kylie donned our jacket with utmost style,” responds Falguni.

The Mumbai-based husband and wife team will be unveiling their new collection ‘PRISM’ in the city today. Their new showcase claims to blend  international weaves with a futuristic take on embellishments.

“It is a red carpet line, with crystalised and embellished rich long gowns. The collection is edgy and dynamic,” she says.
At times the lovers do tend to get too persistent and overly focused on work, which drives the two crazy, but it is “mostly hunky dory,” says the designer.

Lovers at Work
The couple loves waking up and going to work together and Falguni confesses that they have never cribbed about the way life has been ever.
“We both enjoy working with each other and it has never felt like a typical job,” she says.
The two share similar interests in music and movies. “There is nothing which is worst per se (about us), but it seldom happens when one of us would take the fight home and not talk for a couple of hours,” she adds.

From Beyonce to Madonna
The designer duo’s label also made an appearance when Beyonce dropped her new video ‘Formation’ not too recently. The international pop diva is seen wearing a black skirt designed by the Indian couple.

From dressing up Hollywood celebrities like Madonna, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Fergie, Rihanna, Jennifer Lopez, Paris Hilton, Cheryl Cole and Kelly Rowlandn to setting trends in Bollywood fashion, the Peacock’s have definitely grown beyond their humble beginnings as a Mumbai store.
Thei favourites among the Hollywood clientele are Beyonce and Gwen Stefani.

Dreaming on Kate Middleton
Their dream however, is to design for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton someday.
Even before the Peacock’s Indian designers have been dressing up Hollywood starwalts. But everytime an international celebrity wears an Indian label, it is still considered a big deal. Is this because we still seek validation from the West for our fashion choices?

“I think a designer needs no validation from anyone. Yes, it is one thing when someone picks your brand out of the 300 other brands out there, it makes you feel that you have definitely done something right. It depends on the designers how they perceive their success,” says Falguni.
The designer jodi’s future plans include opening close to 800 stores around the world. “We want to leave a mark when we die,” she says.

JLo Let’s Us Play
With Jennifer Lopez we have now reached at a level of understanding where we know what her taste is like. She basically wants similar kind of outfits in different colours and gives us the liberty to play with it. All she does is gives us a brief of what is there in her mind and we don’t refrain from experimenting when it comes to designing for her.

Stylist is the Boss
For Rihanna, her stylist is the one to tell what she wants to style her in. She is mostly into dark, bold and edgy designs. Other than that, we customise her outfits according to her performances.

Nicki is Fearless
For Nicki Minaj, we experiment a lot. She is into pop colours, vibrant designs and never scared to try something new. She would always ask to make something different and we do our best.
