BENGALURU: Officials of the departments concerned and civic agencies will be held responsible for any more encroachment of lakes after completion of the ongoing survey of lakes in Bengaluru Rural and Urban districts.
The Legislature Committee on Lake Encroachment, headed by MLA K B Koliwad, which met here on Tuesday to review the progress of the survey, warned officials to be vigilant against any more encroachments. “The officials will be punished for lapses once the ongoing survey is completed,” he said.
In some cases, it was found that the survey report was faulty. “It has been done deliberately. We have recommended action,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Committee has extended the deadline for submitting replies to notices issued to encroachers, up to March 31.
Three committees, headed by assistant commissioners, have been constituted to scrutinise the replies. The House Committee has issued directions to the Survey Department to survey all rajakaluves within one-and-a-half-months.
