BENGALURU: After four days of holiday, traffic is expected to be high on routes that lead to the city as residents will be heading back home on Wednesday.

Traffic police said traffic congestion is expected on Mysuru Road, Hosur Road, Tumakuru Road and Ballari Road, especially during morning hours on Wednesday.

“During the past four days, there has been a 40-50 per cent decrease in traffic as banks, IT companies and government offices were closed for Diwali, Kannada Rajyotsava. We are expecting a rush of vehicles on Wednesday from 6am to 10am. It will take a while for traffic to return to the usual flow,” a traffic police official said.

Another official said, “Vehicles started coming into the city on Tuesday evening. But the rush is expected on Wednesday morning as many will return to work. Traffic is expected in Majestic, Outer Ring Road, Central Business District, Goragunte Palya, Hebbal, Malleshwaram, Chamarajpet, Yeswantpur, Rajajinagar, Whitefield, KR Puram, Madiwala.”
