Wedding smothered in stardust

BENGALURU: Nearly 50,000 guests are expected for Brahmani and Rajeev Reddy’s wedding, says Tirumal Desai, who is the event PRO. The wedding, which is to happen on Palace Grounds, is scheduled for 9.15 am today.

Yesterday, the groom was escorted from the gate to the main venue with much fanfare. There were even horse chariots. “The groom’s family was welcomed with coconuts, prasad and shawls,” says Desai. “About 1,000 members from the groom’s family and 700-800 from bride’s family will be attending the wedding and rest of the guests will include celebrities such as Tamannaah Bhatia, Priyamani, Sneha, and Kajal Agarwal.”
For the wedding, Desai says that a mantapa has been built from scratch and it can accomodate 3,000 people at a time.

There will be rush of people from other districts too. “All the party workers from 30 jilla panchayats have been invited for the wedding,” says Desai. “People are travelling from places such as Hubbali, Belagavi and Raichur. Some of them are travelling in their own vehicles whereas others will arrive in buses or trains. Reception counters have been arranged in airports, bus stations and railway stations to guide the guests. Ten mobile vans have been arranged for people who may find it difficult to get to the venue.”
The crowd may be overwhelming and, if we know weddings, particularly at dining halls. Therefore, these halls are spread across the venue.

Ten kinds of sweets including jalebi,  Mysore pak and ladoos will served after the usual roti-chappathi-pulao fare. Dining areas will vary in sizes, there are those that can accommodate 7,000 people and others for 1,500 guests.

After the wedding, at 6 pm, bride and the groom will lead a process through Bellary. Relatives and few special guests will be flown out for it. Ofcourse they will not travel economy in junta lines. There will be two specially hired flights and each can carry 80 people.
