The deceased are Shiva Shankar (5) and Adhitya (4), children of Satish Kumar and Jyothi. The family resides in RBI Layout near Konanakunte Cross. While Shiva was hit on the head with a sharp object, Adhitya was strangled to death.Police said Kumar and Jyothi were in love and got married some six years ago and had been living in the city for the past five years. Kumar was a native of Humnabad in Bidar district and worked as a plumber while his wife worked as a domestic help in the neighbourhood.

Police said that Kumar was an alcoholic and often quarrelled with his wife over petty issues. On Tuesday evening too, the couple had a fight after which Jyothi went to her sister Meena’s place with the children.
On Wednesday morning, Meena took the boys to the nursery where they studied. At 8.45am Satish went to the nursery, took the children home and killed them before fleeing.
It was only around noon that Meena came to know that Kumar had taken the boys home. She immediately called Jyothi and informed her about it. Jyothi rushed to the house around 1pm, only to find her little ones dead.

A police source said, “Jyothi and her neighbours rushed the children to a nearby hospital where they declared that the boys were brought dead. She then informed the police. She was inconsolable at the hospital. The bodies of the children were shifted to KIMS for post-mortem.”
“The murders could have happened anytime between 10am and noon. It looks like the husband wanted to take revenge on his wife over their domestic disputes. Satish might have been under the influence of the alcohol when he committed the crime,” a police source said.
The dog squad and forensic science experts visited the crime scene and collected evidence.
