Five men kidnap and stab youth to death in car

BENGALURU: A gang of five men kidnapped a 21-year-old youth and stabbed him to death in a moving car on NICE Road near Tavarekere in the outskirts of the city early on Sunday morning. Old rivalry is said to be the motive for the murder and the accused are still at large, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Aristotle, son of Ramesh. He was a resident of Srirampura and was unemployed.

Police said the accused Arun, Sudhakar, Santhosh and Arun Kumar, who were Aristotle’s classmates kidnapped him in a car around 3.30 am. He was taken to Kodihalli on NICE Road and they stabbed him repeatedly in the moving car itself. Then threw his body on the road side. Passersby who noticed the body lying in a pool of blood alerted Tavarekere police.

“Aristotle’s parents had filed a missing case with the Srirampura police. We received a message about it  and that helped us establish the identity of the deceased soon,” said a
police officer.

Preliminary investigations revealed that Aristotle had discontinued college studies. A couple of days ago, he he quarrelled with the accused over a bike theft. Aristotle had intervened and allegedly assaulted  two of the accused who then hatched the plot to kill him. The accused kidnapped him near his house when he was returning home alone late on Saturday night.

Aristotle was addicted to drugs and was not going home on time. On Sunday morning, his parents waited till the morning and when his mobile was switched off, they approached the police. The movement of the accused’s car was caught on CCTV cameras and efforts are on to nab them, police added.
