Bengaluru civic body to reimburse BPL dengue patients for transfusion

Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will reimburse citizens below poverty line if they require transfusion of platlets.

BENGALURU: Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) will reimburse citizens below poverty line if they require transfusion of platelets after being diagnosed with dengue, BBMP Commissioner N Manjunath Prasad announced in the Council on Monday.

Following complaints of dengue spreading in their wards, many councillors asked about measures being undertaken, following which the commissioner announced the initiative.
When Opposition leader Padmanabha Reddy raised the issue of objections against the new zoning regulations, Prasad said the regualtions were in accordance with BDA’s Master Plan. “The plan will be discussed among all councillors, which will take about 6-7 months. The regulations have to be different for Bengaluru from the rest of the state,” he said.

Councillor Sampathraj of Devara Jeevanahalli ward raised the issue of Parachute Regiment Training Centre (PRTC) personnel damaging a newly-asphalted road at Modi Garden Layout in R T Nagar. “I also received a law suit claiming `15 lakh due to a case filed by them (PRTC). It was they who destroyed a road worth `1.5 crore. I demand to arrange for Kapil Sibal to represent my case,” he said.
Many councillors vented their ire against chief engineers B S Prahallad (Roads) and Siddegowda (storm water drains), for not answering their calls. Mayor Padmavathy reprimanded the officials, and instructed them to accept every call from councillors.
