BELAGAVI: Three policemen attached to Kudachi police station in Raibag taluk, entered a bar and restaurant through a window, allegedly assaulted the staff and fled with liquor boxes on March 13. The entire episode was captured on the CCTV cameras.

The footage showed PSI Shivashankar Mukari and constables Pujeri and H D Bojannavar entering Shivashakti Bar and Restaurant on March 13, the day when the sale of liquor was banned in the taluk due to Holi festival.

After entering the bar, the trio physically assaulted the hotel staff -Ajit Maruti Halingale and Raju Parit with sticks- as they refused to give them liquor. Halingali fainted and fell on the ground. The police then sprinkled water to wake him up and later took him and two other staffers to the police station.
While going out, the police personnel took a few boxes of liquor and forcibly snatched cash from the staff.

Taking a serious note of the complaint, SP Ravikantegowda formed an inquiry team led by a DySP which will submit its report this week.
