BENGALURU: Bengaluru has joined 91 cities across the globe in collating data on climate change. Called the Datacity programme led by French start-up accelerator NUMA, Bengaluru is the recent city to join this network along with Barcelona and Singapore.

The aim of the programme is to develop data which can help resolve climate challenges. According to NUMA representatives, the programme has been successfully implemented in Paris and Casablanca. The Datacity programme was launched in Paris in 2015.

The programme is a collaboration of city governments, corporates, start-ups and technology entrepreneurs. As part of the programme, all the stakeholders will go through a nine month programme deliberating on urban challenges. In the end, data is collated to come up with sustainable solutions.  At the global level, the programme is supported by technology experts including Carto, OpenDataSoft and Dataiku.

By signing an MoU with NUMA, Bengaluru is now part of a network of 91 C40 cities across the globe. The MoU between NUMA and the state department of IT and BT was part of a series of such collaborative efforts signed by the department with entrepreneurs and corporates as part of the tech summit held in the city.
