BENGALURU: Monsoon may reach Karnataka earlier than expected -- by June 2 -- and very heavy rainfall is expected throughout the state from June 6-8, said G S Srinivasa Reddy, Director, Karnataka State Natural Disaster Monitoring Centre.

He said while no update on the status of the monsoon has been received from New Delhi, heavy rainfall in parts of coastal Karnataka is a good sign. “Supa taluk in Uttara Kannada has received 376 mm rainfall during the past few days. There has been rainfall in other coastal regions too, so conditions look favourable.”
