BBMP Solid Waste Management Joint Commissioner Sarfaraz Khan recently received a death threat in a letter that asks him not to send any notices to offices.

BENGALURU: BBMP Solid Waste Management Joint Commissioner Sarfaraz Khan recently received a death threat in a letter that asks him not to send any notices to offices. Khan told Express that BBMP has been sending notices to commercial establishments who are operating out of residential areas.
Along with pictures of the letter, Khan took the opportunity to explain on his Facebook page, that the Palike’s decision to buy nine mechanised sweeping machines has not gone down well with the ‘garbage mafia’.

Khan told Express,“In South Bengaluru for example, the garbage mafia is charging `35 lakh to sweep 30 km. The machine can sweep 50 km in a day and it would cost us only `6 lakh.”
Mechanised sweeping from Monday

“We have given one machine to each seven zones. Sweeping will start from Monday. However, sweeping machine will not work in Dasarahalli as it has small roads. Each machine can sweep 50 km in eight hours,” he said.
