BENGALURU: The minor sexual assault victim, who was admitted to Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital in the wee hours of Saturday, suffered injuries to her genitals, scalp and fingers. She is stable in the ICU and responds to oral commands, but mildly disoriented due to the shock.

“While she has lost a portion of her ring finger, the middle finger is lacerated and fractured. A head CT revealed that her temporal bone is also fractured. She is slightly drowsy but all her vital parameters are fine,” said Dr KS Manjunath, medical superintendent at the hospital.

He explained that her genitals suffered injuries and need surgery for repair.  “A paediatric surgeon from Victoria hospital visited her. A team of neurosurgeon and plastic surgeon is also treating her, he said.
“Her mother has been along her bedside all along,” Manjunath added.

“We have requested that the surgery be performed at Bowring itself. We have an ICU and paediatric department that can handle this case,” he said.
The medical superintendent confirmed that samples were taken from the girl for forensic analysis and only reports can ascertain if she was gang raped. The girl may require counselling and psychological intervention.
