BENGALURU: Upset over wedding being cancelled, a 32-year-old woman committed suicide at her house in Rajarajeshwari Nagar on Tuesday. Her betrothed had reportedly called off the wedding saying she was an unlucky girl as his father died in an accident soon after their engagement.
The deceased has been identified as Nagalakshmi, an MBA graduate working in a private company in the city and was engaged to Karthik, a techie in Hyderabad. Police said she hung herself from the ceiling on Tuesday when her parents had gone to a relative’s house. Her father Devanand, who found the body, informed the police.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Nagalakshmi and Karthik were engaged a year ago. Their marriage was scheduled on May 22. Karthik’s father died in an accident in Hyderabad. Karthik later met an astrologer and was told that the bride was unlucky for their family and thus he had decided to call off the marriage.
Upset over this, Nagalakshmi decided to end her life.
