BENGALURU: Power supply in several parts of the city was affected on Friday and there were complaints of unscheduled power cuts. Frequent power outages were witnessed in Sanjay Nagar, R T Nagar, Sahakara Nagar, Yelahanka and other areas.

However, BESCOM officials denied reports of power cuts. They said power supply was disrupted only in Bommanahalli and Mathikere for maintenance works. Other than that, there were no power cuts, they claimed.

“Bengaluru needs around 2600 MW of electricity per day and we are meeting the demands.  Scheduled power cut happens only for maintenance works. Sometimes power cuts might take place for a few minutes due to technical issues,” a BESCOM spokesperson said.

“There won’t be any load shedding this summer,” he claimed.
