BENGALURU: The accused in the Kammanahalli molestation case wanted to abduct the victim after they groped her on a road on the New Year day, according to the chargesheet filed by Banaswadi police.
At 2.41am on January 1, Aiyappa, a part-time delivery boy and ITI student, and his friend Leno, a BCom dropout, had allegedly molested the woman when she was returning home after celebrating New Year. The police had registered a suo motu case and arrested six people.

The chargesheet stated that the prime accused — Leno and Aiyappa — had told the other accused Sudhesh, Somashekar and George that they would abduct the woman and come to the road end. Accordingly, Sudhesh, Somashekar and George positioned themselves at the road end.
Police sources said Leno and Aiyappa also attempted to drag the girl up to the end of the road but dropped the plan as a vehicle came on the road. They shoved her to the ground before fleeing the spot.
The police also mentioned the footage of a CCTV camera, the phone numbers which were active in the area at the time of the crime and the information gathered from the locals.

Interestingly, the victim is the second witness in the case and her friend is the main witness. The person who got the CCTV footage — Prashanth Francis — is the fourth witness. The woman turned up to identify the molesters after she had skipped the identification parade twice. She identified Aiyappa and Leno, but could not recognise the others.
Police booked the accused under IPC Sections 143 (unlawful assembly), 341 (wrongful restraint), 354 (a) sexual harassment and (b) assault or use of force on woman with an intent to disrobe and 120 (b) (criminal conspiracy). The probe was headed by K R Puram ACP Ravi Kumar.
