A woman was strangled to death by her husband at their house at Yelahanka New Town on Sunday.

BENGALURU: A woman was strangled to death by her husband at their house at Yelahanka New Town on Sunday.

Police have arrested Pratap, a cab driver, who told them that he was angry at his wife for repeatedly questioning him for coming home late at night. The deceased Nalina (26) hailed from Magadi and had married Pratap in 2015.

She had eloped with Pratap after her parents opposed their marriage. The couple were staying in Muniswamappa Layout in Yelahanka New Town, and have a one-year-old son.

The police said at 1.30am, Pratap came to the house. Nalina picked a quarrel with him for coming late. Enraged, Pratap strangled her while their son asleep. The neighbours alerted Yelahanka New Town police.

Drunk driver rams into bike, kills one

A 25-year-old man was killed while his friend sustained injuries after a drunk driver rammed his car into their bike on Hosur Road near Madiwala on Sunday. Madiwala Traffic police arrested the driver Manjunath.

The deceased Anand was a native of Belagavi and was working in a private firm at BTM Layout. He was staying at Garebavipalya with his friends.

Police said at 12.30am, Anand and Naveen Kumar were returning home after work. When they were passing Bommanahalli junction, a speeding Swift car hit their bike. Anand, who was riding the bike, was thrown in the air, while Naveen Kumar fell on a footpath. They were not wearing helmets.
