BENGALURU: Following the recent incidents at schools where the safety and security of children was in question, several city schools have started assuring parents about the measures taken by them to ensure safety and security.

“We have received a detailed circular from my daughter’s school on Wednesday where they mentioned about all the security and safety measures taken at the school. They even asked for suggestions,” said Ranjitha Prashanth a parent sending her daughter to a school located in Jayanagar.

Going a step further, another school has given a schedule for parents to visit the school to know the security measures. “A series of incidents have been reported in the city and outside the state where the safety of school kids has been compromised. When such incidents are reported, the first of parents will be against schools. Keeping this in mind, we have started inviting parents to inform them about the measures we have taken. A schedule has been given to them to visit on those particular days,” said a management representative of a top school in South Bengaluru.

Reacting to it, D Shashi Kumar, general secretary of Associated Management of Primary and Secondary Schools in Karnataka said, “It is a responsible move by schools. During admission time, parents don’t ask for any such details. The just concentrate on getting a seat. It is good that schools are accountable and parents are also being sensitized.”
