BENGALURU: Police have arrested a domestic help in connection with the theft of gold and diamond jewellery worth `1 crore from the house of the CEO of an e-commerce site. The jewellery was stolen from the Lavelle Road residence of Ananth Narayanan, the CEO of Myntra. Police said Bhavani Muppudathi was arrested on Tuesday. Based on Bhavani’s confession, one other person will be nabbed soon, a police official said. The other person is believed to be Bhavani’s lover. The couple had planned to marry with the money they got by pulling off the theft.

On September 6, Narayanan had filed a police complaint regarding the theft at his high security residence, where five servants worked. Police had suspected the involvement of one of the servants in the robbery, as security on the premises made it very tough for outsiders to enter the house. Police said that the theft was carried out when the family had gone on a vacation. Narayanan said that he had last seen the jewels on August 30, and their disappearance was discovered on September 6. The cupboard in which the jewellery was stored had reportedly not been forced open, which further confirmed the police’s suspicion that one of the servants was involved.
