City businessman gets threat call

A 50-year-old city businessman has approached the police after an unidentified person demanded `2 crore and threatened to kill him if he failed to cough up the money.

BENGALURU: A 50-year-old city businessman has approached the police after an unidentified person demanded `2 crore and threatened to kill him if he failed to cough up the money.Sathya Prakash from Nandini Layout received the WhatsApp call on Tuesday wherein the caller abused him in Hindi. The caller demanded that the businessman pay `2 crore to his boss. Prakash who was in a temple with his family disconnected the call. He lodged a complaint with the Sadashivanagar police.

Prakash, who runs a flower decoration business, has in his complaint stated that the caller said: “I know that you own two convention halls. Make the payment by tomorrow. If you inform the police, my people will kill you.” However, Prakash clarified that he did not own any convention halls. Two weeks ago, he had received another call, again from a Hindi-speaking person who insisted that Prakash buy gold at a cheap price from the caller. The businessman had refused and disconnected the call.
