BENGALURU: Gathas, prayers of Zoroastrianism, the monotheistic religion of Ancient Persia, will be presented Ariana Vafadari on February 20 at Alliance Francaise Bangalore. These poems from philosopher and prophet Zarathustra date from about 3,700 years.

They are surprisingly modern, expressing the life, doubts and choices of a man. As there are no records of the way they were sung originnally, Franco-Iranian Ariana Vafadari composed every song according to radifs or oriental scales. Ariana Vafadari was born in Iran and came to France, her mother's country at the age of five.

She graduated as a civil engineer and then studied at the Academy of Music in Paris and at the Hanns Eisler Academy of Music in Berlin. She also took classes with Jack Waltzer at the Actor's Studio. The event will be presented as a part of the third edition of Bonjour India 2017-18 which is a four-month-long voyage across India that aims to celebrate Indo-French partnership.
