BENGALURU: The Airports Economic Regulatory Authority of India (AERA) will release within ten days the final tariff on the development fee that departing passengers from the Kempegowda International Airport need to pay.

The new charge is likely to come into effect from August 1, according to AERA.BIAL had held a consultation meeting with stakeholders on its proposal to slash the User Development Fee (UDF) by three-fourths on June 18.

It had planned to revise the fee from July 1 but the need to carry out public consultations delayed it. The last date for submitting written submissions, which ended on June 25, was extended till July 5.

Speaking to TNIE over the phone from New Delhi, AERA Chairman S Machendranathan said, "We have received many suggestions from numerous people and have forwarded them to BIAL to get their responses to it. We will be issuing the final tariff order within ten days and it can be effected from August 1," he said. "I think it will most likely be a reduction from the existing fee being charged," he added.

Fee slash
AERA, on May 29, proposed a fee slash of Rs 316.76 for international passengers from the Rs 1,226 being paid presently. For departing domestic passengers, it had suggested Rs 79.19, down from Rs 306 being paid now. Service tax is not included. It wanted it to be effective from July 1, 2018 to March 31, 2019 but got delayed.
