BENGALURU: Eight persons have been arrested by Wilson Garden police in connection with the kidnap of a senior sub-registrar. Financial dispute is said to be the reason behind the abduction. Satish N, Santosh, Balakrishna, Devaraja, Manjunath, Satish, Prakash and Parashuram are the arrested persons. The accused had allegedly kidnapped Rangaswamy (59) from Shantinagar Double Road area on July 5 evening and released him the next day.

A police officer said the prime accused in the case—Satish N hailed from Shivamogga.
“Satish, a businessman by profession, used to  borrow money from one Govindaraju, who used to lend him money saying it belonged to Rangawamy. As he could not return the money, Satish had registered a land belonging to him in Govindraju’s wife’s name. He suffered huge losses in the business and again approached Govindaraju for money. But Govindaraju asked him to ask Rangaswamy, who also refused to give money,” the officer said.

“Satish then decided to teach Rangaswamy a lesson and hatched a plot to kidnap him. Accordingly, he roped in other accused and had tried to kidnap Rangaswamy from Thalaghattapura a few days ago, but in vain. However, they succeeded in kidnapping him on July 5. Satish was also among the four persons who kidnapped Rangaswamy, but the latter could not identify him,” the police added.
