Stick to ICSE syllabus: Parents to Baldwin Schools

Hundreds of parents whose children study at Baldwin schools on Saturday demanded the school management to stick to ICSE Board curriculum and not go by their own syllabus.

BENGALURU: Hundreds of parents whose children study at Baldwin schools on Saturday demanded the school management to stick to ICSE Board curriculum and not go by their own syllabus.

Even after a series of protests by parents, and also after an order issued by Karnataka State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (KSCPCR), the schools are still following their own curriculum which is in no way related to the ICSE board, even though the schools are affiliated to ICSE.

On Saturday, the parents took permission from the police to agitate against the school management and they were clear about their demand. “The textbooks prescribed by the school are expensive and the syllabus is not in line with ICSE Board. Our demand is to set these issues right,” said a parent.

However, they were not allowed to continue with the protest. “We were all ready to meet the chairman with the permission letter and he had also agreed, but when we showed up, he denied to meet us and we had to return without an answer. The police requested us not to protest, but we just wanted to submit the memorandum regarding our case,” a parent said.

A few months ago, the KSCPCR and the Primary and Secondary Education department had asked the parents and school managements to sit, discuss and solve the issues.

However, parents alleged that the school management is not willing to do this.  The parents are waiting for a decision from the High Court so that their children can continue studying without any hindrance as the case is  pending for hearing.
