Two weeks on, no clues on gang which duped actor Vinod Raj

Actor Vinod Raj told that it been almost 20 days now and police had not updated him about the case.

BENGALURU: The Nelamangala Town police — probing a series of attention diversion cases including one in which actor Vinod Raj was duped — have no clue about the accused so far. Two weeks ago, unidentified miscreants made away with Rs 1 lakh cash from Vinod Raj before indulging in a similar modus operandi in two separate cases.

A senior police officer said that based on CCTV footage, the police came to know that the same gang was involved in a series of attention diversion cases and robberies around Nelamangala, Madanayakanahalli and Dobbespet. “A special team is working on the case to nab the accused and we are going to solve it soon. The CCTV footage revealed that a young man wearing a black t-shirt and yellow shorts was seen in an actor’s case while the same person was involved while robbing a businessman. Police are gathering information from the locals and believe that he is from the city. However, no leads have been found and it will take some other days to solve it,” the officer added.

Actor Vinod Raj told that it been almost 20 days now and police had not updated him about the case. “I am really upset over such incidents getting repeated in the locality and worried about heading out. The police should prevent such incidents by making sure law and order is maintained in the locality. I hope they solve the case soon.”

It may be recalled that on October 9, Vinod Raj was carrying Rs1 lakh cash in his car to pay his farmhands. Meanwhile, a person speaking in Kannada diverted his attention by alerting him that the rear wheel of his car was deflated. The accused allegedly slashed the tyre before they to divert his attention and made away with the cash. Two days ago, a petrol bunk owner was the victim.
