BENGALURU: In a hit-and-run case, two youngsters were killed on the spot after a speeding truck rammed into their bike in Muddinapalya in Byadarahalli on the city outskirts. The incident occurred on Monday night.

The deceased are Abhishek Goutham (22) and his colleague Umesh H C (21). They were working as assistants in 108 Ambulance service for the last four years and were living in Sunkadakatte on Magadi Road.

A senior police officer said they were returning home on their bike around 7.30pm. Abhishek was riding the bike and Umesh was sitting pillion. They were heading towards Sunkadakatte from Ramanagara and were passing the Muddinapalya junction.

On seeing an ambulance come from the opposite direction, they moved to the left. This is when a truck carrying a cement mixer rammed into their bike from behind and ran over them. The truck driver did not stop the vehicle and managed to escape. Byadarahalli police were informed and the bodies were rushed to hospital.

“Based on a complaint by an eyewitness and CCTV footage, the police were able to find the details of the truck,” the officer said.
