Healing through honest, heartfelt conversations

Madhuri Govindu is hosting a session at Atta Galatta for those with difficulty in expressing themselves.
Healing through honest, heartfelt conversations

BENGALURU: In this fast-paced world, with responsibilities and deadlines, we often distract ourselves constantly so as to not think about personal problems, forgetting the importance of sharing and having conversations. On February 25, motivational speaker and life coach, Madhuri Govindu, will be hosting a session themed ‘Meet the genius within you’. Her venture, Soulful Conversations, is a platform for those who have a difficult time expressing themselves, so that they can meet like-minded folk in a space that is judgement-free and safe.
City Express got in touch with Madhuri ahead of her session. Excerpts:

Tell us a bit about your upcoming session and why you think this theme (meet the genius within you) is relevant?
Each one of us is a hero. I respect those, who via their dedication to a vision and devotion to their  practice, arrive at a place where the world calls them “a genius”. People who can move others, people who can bring tears to my eyes, people who have proven that nothing is impossible if you put in ridiculous amounts of hard work, self-belief, focus and perseverance in the face of any setback. Soulful conversations will bring you face to face with the genius within you. The genius who is asleep, the genius who needs a wake up call, the genius who is aching to be expressed.

How did you get into being a motivational speaker/life coach?
Being a certified practitioner, I have touched the lives of more than 20,000 souls in the last 20 years. Being an empath, working closely with Lebenshilfe, my NGO for intellectually handicapped kids, always made me question myself - What can you do to make someone feel happy about being alive today?

I was an eloquent speaker since 14, and went about working for corporates like HSBC, Amex, Accentur. With every human connect, I just knew one thing, I will leave this human being better than the state they are in right now, and that was my first step towards being a life coach. Through reiki, pranic and energy healing, through counseling and through heart to heart conversations, I could save a lot of lives.

Tell us a bit about Soulful Conversations and why we need such a platform?
Counselors, scientists, psychologists, entrepreneurs and many more walk into my session to have a heart to heart discussion and walk out with a sense of relief. We need this platform to be able to meet like minded people, people who have a huge fear to open up, huge fear to express, depression and loneliness that is killing all of us, fear of being judged, fear of being belittled, a screaming inner voice that says you are not enough, you don’t have anyone, it’s this fear that I wanted to kill by embracing every soul. My bigger mission is to spread this platform across the world and offer healing, peace, joy, and most importantly, a sense of security to the world.

What are some topics covered in your previous sessions?
Some earlier sessions I’ve held dealt with topics such as - Overcoming fear – breaking barriers, self sabotaging – how to free yourself?, overcoming challenges at work, how to ‘STANDOUT’?, find your calling to name a few

What is the feedback you have received from such sessions?
People walk in with an apprehension - is it really possible to open up to someone and share my life without being judged? And they leave on a note with a reassurance, that I am not the only one struggling, there are many more. One such example would be man from Mysuru, who was going through a divorce and was unable to share or express his feelings. He immediately connected with us, and told me that a frank conversation changed his perspective altogether.

Upcoming sessions and projects?
Soulful conversations will continue with a new theme each month. I am going to partner with UNESCO, UNICEF, Global Giving NGOs and other such big platforms where I will touch more people. I want to breathe every night in peace, that because of me someone is smiling.
