BENGALURU: Whether Mohammed Haris and his friends were under the influence of ganja when they assaulted Vidvat? Former deputy chief minister R Ashok on Wednesday raised the issue and demanded the police to investigate on this aspect too.“It cannot be ruled out that Mohammed Haris and his friends launched murderous attack on Vidvat under the influence of ganja and other drugs. The police should have subjected Mohammed to Narcotics analysis test too,” R Ashok said while speaking to reporters.

Citing the reports that Vidvat was attacked at the cafe first and then again at the parking area below the cafe building, Ashok said considering the ferocity of the repeated attacks, it seems Mohammed and his gang were under the influence of narcotic drugs. He expressed surprise as to why the police did not subject him to test to ascertain consumption of narcotic drugs.

Expressing concern at the alleged rampant drug peddling in the city, Ashok said the seizure of 130 kg of ganja by the city police on a single day last week is proof of the depth to which this menace has taken root. The pernicious trade of ganja is flourishing uninterrupted in Bengaluru city. “Both BJP worker Santosh of Ramaswamypalya and Kadiresh, husband of BJP corporator Rekha Kadiresh, in Chalavadipalya were killed because they opposed peddling of ganja in their respective areas,” Ashok added.
