BENGALURU: Banaswadi police on Saturday arrested two men for killing a 52-year-old woman over a financial dispute. The victim, Shanthi, was a resident of Lingarajapuram. She went missing on October 9 and her daughter had filed a police complaint.

The arrested are Sundar (35), an auto driver, and his friend Nagaraju (30), a painter. They are residents of Bagaluru Layout.  A senior police officer said that Sundar had borrowed Rs 50,000 from Shanthi, a house- keeping staff. When Shanthi asked Sundar to repay the money, he hatched a plot to kill her.

On October 9, he called her over phone and asked her to come to a temple. When she reached the spot, the accused asked her to sit in Sundar’s auto and took her to an isolated place and stabbed her repeatedly. Later, they dumped the body in an open drain.

Shanthi’s daughter Radhika told the police that she suspected Sundar. This is when police detained him and during interrogation, Sundar revealed the crime.

He later took police to the crime scene. Police recovered the decomposed body and sent it for postmortem. The weapon used is yet to be traced as Sundar threw it in the drain, police said.
