BHUBANESWAR: In wake of the fire accident at the No Limit Air restaurant-cum-hookah bar, the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) and the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) have planned to scrutinise the building plan approval of various commercial establishments here.

“Not just the bars, inspection will be carried out at various commercial establishments to verify whether they have the required planning and approval and if they are operating according to them,” BMC commissioner, Chanchal Rana said.

He added that commercial establishments found operating in violation of the planning and approval norms will be shut down and stringent action taken against such facilities. As per sources, most of the standalone bars, pubs and restaurants operate with trade licence from the BMC.

Odisha Fire and Emergency Services said an assistant fire officer will probe if there were any lapses in the fire safety measures at No Limit Air and accordingly the BMC will be approached to cancel its trade licence.
