Rotary creates awareness about polio immunization

“NO child is safe, until every child is safe”,  said Rotarian A Subramanian, District Governer, as he announced, 'Aayiram Nillave Vaa', an event dedicated to eradicate polio.

   Rotary International, District 3230, is organising a musical evening, which will be dedicated to the hit songs of SP  Balasubrahmanyam. The evening would see a host of singers like SPB Charan, Sreeram, Sailaja, Srilekha, and Rotarians  among  others. Rotary would also be conferring the, Lifetime achievement award to Padmashri Dr. SP Balasubrahmanyam, for his service  to the Indian cinema through music.

Rotary International has spent close to $650 million so far, and is expecting to spend up to $950 million for the eradication  of polio. It has been associated with the cause since 1985 and works in collaboration with WHO for the same. Rotary has so  far helped immunize more than 2 billion children in 122 countries. India is one of the four countries in the world where  polio is still endemic. The focus of this event would be to create awareness about polio immunization for the upcoming  National Immunization Day on February 1.

The event would take place on January 2 at Kamaraja Arangam at 6.30 pm.
