CHENNAI: Frederick Kaplan, Public Affairs Officer of the US Consulate General in Chennai, on Friday said that the implementation of the Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) would be the key to strengthen the Indo-US business relations further.
Addressing a gathering at the third annual R M Seshadri Memorial Lecture, he said the US business houses were excited about the prospect of investing in India if their product rights were adequately protected.
“Strong IPR regulations underlie the importance of relationship between the two countries. Because we believe in controlling the piracy through tough laws,’’ he said adding that the US firms believed that products would be adequately protected.
Kaplan, who served in Costa Rica before assuming office in the consulate here, said the strong IPR protection measures was essential for services sector.
