Of yoga and tantra
SHIVA and Shakti are engaged in a play of the divinely. Equitable, romantic and animated, they balance out emotions effortlessly, inviting one to the less understood sphere of tantra. The universe is a divinely play between Shiva and Shakti and tantricism emphatically reveals that, goes the reminder for the ones stepping into the Satya Esoteric Integral Yoga centre.
Emanuel Langhoff and Cleo Lukkarinen have not brought a slice of Scandinavia with them, but a slice of India, back to India. It’s been barely three months since they’ve been in Chennai, setting up the first International Yoga School centre (a European yoga institute) in India, but they already seem to be making waves. With Tantra and yoga being the primary focal points of the school, they duo looks confident of taking the path unblemished and far from contaminated by misconceptions.
“We are on an endeavour to return tantric wisdom to India. It was plucked out of the country and taken to the West. But sadly, it is no more understood in India. Tantra is not just sex. It is beyond that. It is the science of the mantra and the yantra,” notes Emanuel. Chips in Cleo, “From the tantric point of view, everything should be embraced the spiritual way.” They point out that the story of yoga is the same as that of martial arts — that of degeneration. “Practice is becoming more superficial. That is, it just sticks to the level of the body, though each asana refer to a psychological state,” they say.
With the goal to restablish the esoteric practice in the yoga system and also to revitalize the science of tantra, the duo speaks from their experience, “Practicing yoga and tantra helped us find that peace that we were looking for.”
