

CHENNAI: A Sankara Nethralaya clinic was inaugurated at Shenoy Nagar on Saturday. It has been named after TK Lakshmi Ammal and TK Alamelu Ammal in memory of the mother and sister of retired chief commissioner of Income Tax TK Soundarajan, who had donated his property for the clinic.
Chairman Emeritus of Sankara Nethralaya Dr S Badrinath said, “The clinic at Shenoy Nagar has small, comfortable rooms for the PG students. The ophthalmic outpatient facility here is well furnished and small in size. OPD consultation will be offered between 4 pm and 7 pm on all weekdays. The clinic will also serve as a surgical fixing centre for patients who are required to undergo surgery at the main hospital on College Road. Moreover, dates for surgery and appointments with super specialists at the main hospital will also be fixed at this clinic.” The clinic is situated at (new) No 39, 1st main road, East Shenoy Nagar.
Clinic in Tirupathi: According to the Sankara Nethralaya officials, the hospital has got an offer from the Tirupathi Devasthanam, to start an eye centre there. The Devasthanam authorities have offered to provide the entire capital and revenue expenditure. The hospital authorities said that 80 per cent of the services provided at Tirupathi would be free of cost.
