CHENNAI:  The class X toppers in the three streams - State Board, Matriculation and AngloIndian - are from Tirunelveli, Erode and Coimbatore districts, respectively.

S Jasmine a student of MPL Girls' Higher Secondary School, Tirunelveli, scored 495 out of 500 to grab top spot in the State Board.

Daughter of M Sheik Dawood, a smalltime trader in textiles, Jasmine wants to opt for the Computer Science Group in Plus II and go on to do Engineering. She also wants to take a shot at Civil Services. Jasmine marks: Tamil 98, English 99, Maths 100, Science 100, Social Science 98.

S Pavithra, daughter of a doctor couple from Sathyamangalam near Erode, romped home first in the Matriculation stream, scoring 495 out of 500.

Pavithra attributed her success to her schoolteachers. She wants to take up Engineering and then the Civil Services. Her marks: Tamil 98, English 98, Maths 100, Science 100, Social Science 99.

Two Coimbatore girls, S Rene Angel and J Namrita, shared the top rank in the AngloIndian stream. Angel, a student of St Francis Anglo Indian HSS, scored 483/500 (Maths 100, Science 100, History Geography 98, English 90, Tamil 95). "My aim was to bag a State rank. I never expected to emerge topper," Angel told Express.

Namrita, a student of Stanes Anglo Indian HSS, too scored 483. She wants to pursue Medicine after Plus Two. Her marks: Tamil 98, English 87, Maths 100, Science 100, History Geography 98. Daughter of Jayaraj, an assistant general manager at LG Equipments, and Suganthi, viceprincipal of an Engineering college in the city, Namrita said: "I didn't expect to be a topper. Hard work certainly paid dividends." That it does.
