CHENNAI: It was a chance meeting with Congress youth icon Rahul Gandhi that changed the life for M Hazeena Syed, who is now most likely to be the party’s official candidate in Krishnagiri constituency.

The 32-year old vice chairperson of the TNCC and PCC member met Rahul after coming into the party through the talent hunt contest held by the young Congress MPs in 2008. “It changed my life. Though I had already been into social work, he was a real inspiration,” she says.

Hazeena runs an academy here to train aspirants to become airhostess and cabin crew besides writing for magazines on women development. “It all has been a big draw. My column on Vetri Meedu Patru Vendru in a leading Tamil newspaper was a hit.”

Stressing that she had been engaged in active social work from a fairly young age, Hazeena says women needed motivation and guidance on a whole lot of issues. “I think I am doing by bit very earnestly. It is already paying dividends and I would continue to work for women’s growth.”

Denying the popular notion that she had been anchoring beauty shows for  Mega TV owned by the family of the TNCC chief KV Thangkabalu, she says she had done shows for many private channels but not Mega TV alone.

Hazeena Syed did her graduation in SIET College and schooling in the same group. She also holds a master degree in alternate medicine.
