Funky jewellery ups its mojo this season

Cashing in on the festive mood, leading jewellery outlets across the city have come up with various discounts and unique designs to woo their customers. The yellow metal has always been an  all-time favourite among women and this year funky jewellery has become the trend of the season.

Says Kaustak Sengupta, professor, National Institute  of Fashion Technology, “This festival season, oversized, funky jewellery has become a trend, while last year it was the fine jewellery that was in vogue. The so-called Kerala jewellery and antique jewellery are more preferred by the classic rich. White gold and platinum have also become the picks of the season. I don’t find much of silver jewellery moving this year,” and adds “In case of costumes jewellery, non-conventional, geometric patterns are the favourites among youngsters.” Statement pieces are the trend now, says jewellery designer Sheetal Parrek. “One solid piece of jewellery on the neck that goes with any simple costume is what people want this season. A combination of Indo-western designs that goes well with Kanjeevaram sarees are also liked my many,” she says and adds that vibrant colours like red are predominantly used this festival season. “Glass and natural stones also give a charming touch to your ethnic wear,” she says.
