Power should not buy us respect

Real happiness stems from the respect that people give us, and this cannot be earned when as long as people only look at the power we yield
Power should not buy us respect

An ordinary man becomes a great personality the moment he acquires a name, fame and of course power. People start greeting him with great respect. If the same person loses his power, people don’t respect him. When a person occupies the chair of power, he can be of great help to others. But once he is no longer on the chair, this world would ignore him totally.

If one feels happy and honoured when people praise him, he is bound to feel miserable when people don’t recognise him when he is without power. One should understand that people are respecting the power of the person and not him.  If he understands that he will neither feel happy or miserable. Don’t give importance to wealth, authority and worldly riches which are not a real source of happiness.

The original state of being is ananda: Almost all people think that Ananda is present in a special state. Everyone searches for happiness in something new. You expect others to make you happy. Each one exists for himself. Every single person, first and foremost, gives top priority to what is important to him. He is always concerned about his own desires, his comforts and things related to him. In reality, the original state itself is ananda Our trumped up desire for something special, ignoring the original state of ananda, is the sole reason for misery. You must convince yourself that it is not wise to have desires for such perishable objects and give up craving them. That which lasts forever is perfect and peaceful in its natural state and is available instantly on the spot and such atma-sukha or inner happiness must be chosen by you.

The real cause of both pleasure and pain are within us: As long as you retain the belief that you are one with the body and mind which are collectively called as the ‘I’, it will be impossible to give up the desire for sense objects which causes misery. The jiva assesses his worth in terms of upadhi or add-ons which makes him feel small, and insignificant. This is the real cause of misery. The external causes for sufferings are never ending. Instead of trying to remove external causes, uproot the real cause of misery, the inner feeling of imperfection troubling you. Stop being unhappy and practice the art of settling down in the quiet peaceful paramananda state by realizing the atman and enjoy the inner joy emitting from atman.

This is called atmabyasa or understanding the atman, nidhidhyana and dhyana. Don’t stick on to the ever irritating worldly life and get submerged in the market place of worries.  Realise that you are ananda incarnate and remain submerged in it and reach the final goal, the Sakshatkara or self-realisation.

Observe the principal state of jnana: You are always there in all conditions as yourself in your natural state. atman has a continuous unbroken presence. To turn the out ward going mind inwards you need discrimination.
