CHENNAI: Boby Chemmanur, the owner of Chemmanur International Jewellers, was recently honoured with the Mother Teresa Award for his services to the needy through his Life Vision Homes.

The special award, jointly instituted by Coimbatore Voice and Sigaram Foundation, was presented to Boby Chemmanur by singer S P Balasubramaniam at a function organised by the Coimbatore Hindustan College.

Boby had been actively involved in several charitable activities and had started Life Vision Homes with the aim of providing medicine, food and clothing to shelterless people throughout their life, without any donation.

SPB expressed hope that Boby, who works for all without any discrimination on any  basis such as caste, creed, religion, party, politics or colour and has dedicated his life for the marginalised sections of society, will become a role model for people in the business sector.

Boby said that he considered the satisfaction he gains in providing care for the inmates of the home, while feeding and spending time with them, greater than anything else in life.

He had also won 17 awards, including the Rajiv Gandhi Award, the Glory of India Award, the Rotract Excellence Award, the Vijayasree National Award, the Rashtreeya Sammaan Puraskar, the Young Businessman Award, the Nagabharana Foundation Award, the Lions Club Award and the Kerala Consumer Award in the past for his social and charitable activities and excellence in the field of business.his social and charitable activities and excellence in the field of business.
