In the cycle of fashion, old is new, traditional is unique, antique is modern. Treated as family heirlooms, the antique gold jewellery with rich, intricate work and embellished by original rubies, emeralds and Balsar pearls, are possessed by a few and coveted by all.
Attend the tenth edition of the ongoing annual exhibition and sale of antique jewellery — Ancient Secrets at the Cathedral Road showroom of Prince Jewellery.
Originals, reproductions and originals remodelled to suit modern tastes from Chettinad, Travancore and Mughal eras – the exhibition has something for all.
Prince Jewellery’s long association with the jewellery business makes them an expert on the value of the workmanship of the artisans of yore, the beauty of the pieces crafted and the rarity in coming across such pieces in modern times.
“In those days, jewellers used to work with their hands and tools creating intricate designs that are difficult to replicate today except by traditional jewellers,” explains Princeson Jose, chairman, Prince Jewellery. “Many families refuse to part with their heirlooms even when we promise them a good price because it is a precious part of their collection,” he adds, stressing the value of these pieces.
The exhibition is on till July 8. For details, call 42036655
