Divinity- an intrinsic part of your life

Divinity- an intrinsic part of your life

Seated before Shri Nimishananda Guruji, the devotees were enthusiastically talking about the unforgettable Yatra to Tiruvannamalai which they had experienced two weeks ago in the divine Company of Shri Nimishananda Guruji. About 120 devotees had circumambulated the sacred Arunachala Hill in Tiruvannamalai with Pujya Guruji, devoutly singing bhajans and chanting as they walked the 14 kms barefeet during the later hours of the night. The sky was dark and cloudy and only a dim silhouette of the hill was visible. The hill is the personification of Lord Shiva who removes all negativity and grants boons readily. So Shri Nimishananda Guruji told the devotees to walk every step of the way with complete surrender constantly chanting the name of Lord Shiva. This would dissolve the Karmic accumulation of many lifetimes. As the devotees relived the two days at Tiruvannamalai which had been utterly magical and out of this world, Neeraja asked Shri Nimishananda Guruji - “Pujya Guruji, we could feel the strong vibrations of divinity as we walked around the hill. But I wish we could see through your eyes Pujya Guruji…” Shri Nimishananda Guruji smiled and said - “I wish that for every one of you. The infinitely expansive form of Lord Shiva in deep meditation that one perceives instead of the hill has to be seen to be believed. This is perceptible to anyone who has linked himself inseparably to the Divine. If we look at an example we can understand this better. As we went around the hill, your children were walking beside you.

When they walked with you, did they think of you as Neeraja or as Mummy? The close and intimate bond that they have with you will always make them perceive you as Mummy. They see you as an extension of themselves - an intrinsic part of their lives. When you are one with god, your eyes will also see Divinity in everything.”

Dissolve your Guru into your being

A few devotees had the great blessing of taking the night’s prasad (dinner) with Shri Nimishananda Guruji. Shri Sudarshan, a structural engineer asked Shri Nimishananda Guruji - “Pujya Guruji, there are so many controversies about certain gurus. Why is it that those gurus make no effort to convince people about their genuineness or to prove their worth?”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji smiled and said - “Such controversies begin in somebody’s mind. So they have to end in that person’s mind only. Why should the Guru concern himself with it?”

Sudarshan asked - “But Pujya Guruji, though such controversies begin in someone else’s mind, when we hear about it or read about it, we too feel perturbed.” Shri Nimishananda Guruji said - “Why do you let it worry you? If somebody throws a stone that misses you, will you pick it up and keep hitting yourself on the head with it? That’s what you’re doing when you allow another person’s opinion or controversy to affect your mind and give it space there. You can choose what you want your mind to dwell upon. When you allow controversies to obsess you, you are creating a field of negative energy around you which will block Divine Grace. If, on the other hand, you fill your mind with thoughts of God or your Guru, the positive energy you generate will constantly draw God’s Grace towards you. Never give space in your mind to anybody other than God or the Guru.” Smt. Neeraja said - “Pujya Guruji, when we are with you this is extremely easy. But when we do not have your physical Darshan for a long time, we miss your Divine Presence very much. Most devotees experience this.”

Shri Nimishananda Guruji said - “The guru is the personification of your own soul which is divine. Don’t depend on the external form. Like you dissolve sugar in milk, dissolve the guru into your own inner being. Then he is always with you wherever you are.”
