The Department of Mechanical Engineering of SKR Engineering College inaugurated their ‘Rapid prototyping machine’ recently at their seminar hall. S M S Nalini, General Manager (SG) National Small Industries Corporation Ltd was the chief guest at the occasion. Principal M Senthil Kumar gave the special address and spoke about Rapid Prototyping (RP), while HOD T Senthil Kumar welcomed the gathering.
R P is a group of techniques used to quickly fabricate a scale model of a physical part or assembly using three-dimensional Computer Aided Design (CAD) data. Construction of the part or assembly is usually done using 3D printing technology. Today, they are used for a wide range of applications and are used to manufacture production-quality parts in relatively small numbers without the typical unfavourable short-run economics.
