High Court issue notice to fill up vacancies at government hospital

The Madras High Court on Friday ordered notice on a public interest writ petition praying for a direction to the authorities concerned to fill up vacancies of professors and associate professors at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital.

This is to ensure that the MCh in Endocrine Surgery, a super-specialty course, at the Madras Medical College was not affected.

The first bench of Acting Chief Justice R K Agrawal and Justice M Sathiyanarayanan ordered the notice, returnable by August 5.

The other prayers of the PIL from Dr M Chandrasekaran of T Nagar, who retired from the post of professor, was to restrain MCI from doing any act which would result in de-recognition of MCh in Endocrine Surgery at MMC.
