B Madan Kumar’s hard-hitting century (104, 77b, 17x4) helped SBOA MHSS beat Sri Padmasarangapani MHSS by 189 runs in the TNCA–City Schools Coca Cola Under-16 cricket tournament for the C Ramaswamy Trophy.

Ashwin For Fitness

India cricketer R Ashwin on Monday inaugurated The Orthomed  Hospital, which specialises in sports medicine, arthroscopy and joint care. He also launched a special free treatment scheme “Fit For Free” for young sports talents who are unable to bear the cost of treatment. Ashwin was happy with the facilities under one roof which includes sports injury consultation, injury management, rehabilitation and training.

Saravana in Lead

P Saravana Krishnan of Tamil Nadu defeated Chakravarthi Reddy of Andhra Pradesh in the seventh round to emerge sole leader with 6.5 points in the 13th Adyar Times FIDE rated open chess tournament at Baplal Bhavan.

RA Pradeep Kumar and IM R Balasubramaniam are in the second spot with six points each. Seven players – B Kumaran, Abhilash Reddy, FM M Vinoth Kumar, R Ashwath, M Chakarvarthi Reddy, FM KV Shantaram and PP Prachura are occupying the third spot with 5.5 points.
