Indian spinning sensation and Chennai’s favourite cricketer R Ashwin inaugurated the Orthomed Hospital, South India’s first exclusive specialty hospital for Arthroscopy (Key Hole Surgery), Sports Medicine and Joint Care.
Ashwin also launched a special free scheme ‘Fit For Free’ for upcoming young sports talents who are either injured or cannot afford the treatment costs.
During the launch, Ashwin said, “This kind of specialty hospital for sports injuries is very essential in India as we have lost many players due to untreated sports injuries.” He added that there were huge differences between general hospitals and sports specialty hospitals as their approach to sports injuries and methods were different.
