The Tamil Nadu Assembly on Thursday passed a bill aimed at ensuring higher assistance paid to the families of advocates’ clerks who die while in service from Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh. The bill was introduced by the government in line with recommendations made by the Bar Council of TN.
Municipal Administration, Rural Development, Law, Courts and Prisons K P Munusamy introduced the bill to amend the TN Advocates’ Clerks Welfare Fund Act of 1999 to not only increase the assistance paid, but also to raise the fees for application, and membership of TN Advocates’ Clerks Welfare fund.
