A Nepali youth studying MBBS in a private college near Thiruporur was allegedly robbed of his motorcycle at knifepoint on Sunday.

Police said Rabin Kair, studying fourth year MBBS in a college at Ammapettai, was returning to the college hostel after filling petrol when two persons intercepted him near Ellalur village and threatened him at knife point around 4.30 pm.

“It was a deserted place on the outskirts of the village and the robbers exploited this. When the complainant resisted, they hurt him with a knife,” said a police officer. Rabin suffered minor abrasions in the attack.

The robbers had left behind a motorcycle in the spot. Since there is no petrol in the motorcycle left behind by the robbers, police suspect that it was a stolen bike and the robbers had robbed Rabin’s bike in an attempt to flee from the area. Thiruporur police have registered a case and are investigating.
